Tabloid: The documentary of Joyce McKinney and Kirk Anderson

In the mid-1970s the UK was rocked by the sensational story of how Joyce McKinney, a very intelligent University graduate and beauty queen had come to Britain and kidnapped and had a Mormon missionary, Kirk Anderson, chained to a bed in a remote cottage and forced him to have sexual intercourse with her. She absconded and was tried in her absence and found guilty.

Famed US film maker Errol Morris has made a film about her. In this extract he talks about Joyce McKinney:-

The full story is even weirder than it seemed at first!

What a character is Joyce McKinney. Victim or slut, depending on who you believe. The movie is enrapturing leaving you guessing. Great insight into Mormonism and the Holy Underwear.

Joyce McKinney is not a victim or slut but just a woman that felt in love with the wrong person. Can we call this person a man? Of course not how can he be a man when he jumpped when the boat was sinking. Everybody investigated and slander this woman's name but they seem to forget Anderson; how come all we heard about him was "I am a Mormon and having sex is against my religion" but he had fun and enjoyed every minute of it. I can't believe he gave up the love of his life for this "Cult." Was ot worth it Anderson? I don't think God would want for you to be sooo unhappy because God is love and not judgemental. What kind of person are you Anderson? How did you let your church decide who to love? Where are you now still hiding behind your church? Good for you Joyce because at least you had your man for few days but for sure you left him scar for life. No body can't take away those three days you lived with the love of your life even though he was not worth it but you did it. There are millions of us, men/women, that can't say the same because we are like Anderson and don't have the b...s to do what you did, Joyce. Who the hell are the newspapers, churches and rest of the world to judge you? Only God can do that and nobody else. I don't know you but I do admired you for you always kept you head up high, I know you had you weak moments because of the press but at the end you kept going like the duracell bunny. The beauty of all is that you made history and good or bad people still talking about you and that my dear Joyce means you are important and you are still in our minds.

Kirk Anderson Part of the problem is that Kirk Anderson did what he did because he was a member of a cult.

Cults cause damaged, wrong thought patterns in the victims that it gathers to itself.
